This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to present and negotiate persuasively, lead and participate in meetings and make presentations to customers, clients and other key stakeholders.

It applies to managers and leaders who are required to identify, analyse, synthesise and act on information from a range of sources, and who deal with unpredictable problems as part of their job role. They use initiative and judgement to organise the work of self and others and plan, evaluate and co-ordinate the work of teams.

No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

Assessment Tasks

Copy and paste from the following data to produce each assessment task. Write these in plain English and spell out how, when and where the task is to be carried out, under what conditions, and what resources are needed. Include guidelines about how well the candidate has to perform a task for it to be judged satisfactory.
Copy and paste from the following performance criteria to create an observation checklist for each task. When you have finished writing your assessment tool every one of these must have been addressed, preferably several times in a variety of contexts. To ensure this occurs download the assessment matrix for the unit; enter each assessment task as a column header and place check marks against each performance criteria that task addresses.

Identify the need for any meetings and schedule meetings in response to the need 
Prepare materials relating to key issues and disseminate in advance 
Develop and circulate an agenda, and use efficient, inclusive meeting procedures to maximise participation and maintain order 
Achieve agreed outcomes in the available time by co-operating with and seeking consensus and compromise 
Summarise outcomes of meetings for action and distribute to stakeholders promptly, as required 
Identify appropriate forums to present business positions, in line with organisational objectives 
Obtain reliable information and advice to prepare appropriate presentations 
Adapt language, explanations, media and information/entertainment balance to meet the needs of the audience 
Respond to questions openly, honestly, and in accordance with organisational policies
